6th IPP Round: The Ministry Opens 200 MW to private investors. Africa Solar is with you.

A new window of opportunity has just opened

The Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy has just launched the sixth round of its call for projects for independent solar power production under the authorization regime. 200 megawatts are up for allocation. Applications are accepted from April 15 to June 15, 2026.

Submissions will be reviewed in chronological order — meaning an early application has a decisive advantage over a late one.

If you have been considering launching an IPP project, the question is no longer "is this the right time?" The answer is yes. The question is: are you ready to submit a complete and compliant application before June 15?

What this round requires from you

Participating in this 6th round means submitting a complete and compliant application between April 15 and June 15, 2026. In practice, this involves:

An identified and available site, with proof of ownership or lease agreement and a non-objection notice from the Ministry of Agriculture. A preliminary grid connection study validated by STEG. A bank letter of intent for project financing. A full technical study including electrical diagrams, system sizing and equipment documentation. A preliminary environmental impact assessment. A detailed project implementation schedule. And a bank bid guarantee.

The absence of any single one of these elements results in the automatic rejection of the application — with no possibility of appeal, other than resubmitting and losing your original submission priority.

Africa Solar: Your application, our expertise

Putting together a compliant IPP application in under two months is a real challenge. That is precisely what Africa Solar is here for.

We know the process inside out. We have the technical expertise to carry out all required studies — system sizing, electrical diagrams, grid connection study — and the established relationships with STEG to secure validations on time. We support you in structuring your financing and preparing your banking documentation. And we plan every step to ensure your application is submitted on time, complete and without error.

Once your agreement in principle is obtained, we remain by your side through construction, grid connection and operational monitoring for the full duration of the contract.

The 6th round is open. Applications close on June 15, 2026. Contact Africa Solar today for a free assessment of your project.
